Catholic apologist and popularizer Dave Armstrong has a lengthy discussion on his blog Biblical Evidence for Catholicism of author Anne Rice's abandonment of Catholicism:

Note that it is not enough for her to cease being a Catholic. She is ditching any other form of communal, denominational Christianity, too. The examples of people expressing actual overt hatred or purported hatred that she cites are not Catholic ones (they are mostly Baptists).
