One of the great things about this blogging hobby is that I get information I wouldn't otherwise get. For example, I have word that Rod Espinosa's new Amerimanga, DinoWars, is available for pre-order.
Espinosa is probably one of the finest artists in comics today. From the Phillipines, trained in architectural engineering, and gifted with an impressive imagination, he combines an imitative manga style with his own special brand of carefully detailed and beautiful environments. On top of that, he creates fantastic worlds and lovable characters. When I first read his beautiful Neotopia, the high-quality art, the bold landscapes, and the daring blend of architectural and costume styles put me in mind of James Gurney's Dinotopia, which blends dinosaurs, cute children, and an impressive knowledge of art history. An Espinosa comic featuring dinosaurs in spaceships is sure to be awesome.
This new comic, even before I've seen it, reminds me of Dinosaucers. Does anyone else remember that show? Imagine a Transformers rip-off with dinosaurs instead of transforming robots and you've pretty much got it.
